Long ago a man named Wat Evoy dreamt three nights after one another, that there was a crock of gold buried in a field of my father's called the "gorteen".Outside of this field there is an old rath.
Wat came and told my father about it, and they said they would go on a certain night to dig for it.
They were to keep this for a great secret, but uncle Jimmie, was listening to them all the time.
So they set off on a certain night to this place and brought Holy Water, and spades, and shovels, and a big dog with them.When they came to the spot, where the gold was buried, they sprinkled the holy water in a ring round it to keep away the fairies.They commenced to dig as hard as they could, and during all this time my uncle Jimmie was watching them.
