    their help, but could not proceed on the first day. They then returned, and procured a more powerful motor boat and succeeded in reaching the vessel, but found that all the crew had perished, the vessel being a total wreck.
    The people in the mainland at "Porter's Gate" could hear the frantic cries of the men during the two days. The cargo consisting of valuable timber was salvaged and auctioned to the people around the locality. There is some of it in use still in Ryan's mill Mullenderry. There was a ballad, composed about the disaster.
