- (continued from previous page)tried to remove it he happened to glance in the direction of the river which was facing the Abbey and he saw his wife with a gold Chalice in her hand. She was in a ship which was sinking and in the excitment to tell his companions to save her, he fell from the top and was killed and they say that his body was turned into stone. On Good Friday it bleeds, three drops of blood appear on this stone which is still to be seen.____The daughter of an English man came to New Ross and she wished to have Old Ross and New Ross joined together.
She sent to England for two ships, laden with gold, with which to complete her project. She got up in the bell tower of Saint Mary's Abbey to watch them coming safely to New Ross. As they sailed up the Barrow to her dismay she saw them sinking. This sight caused her to fall from the bell-tower to the ground where she was dashed to pieces.(continues on next page)- Collector
