These are the commonest birds around here, blackbirds, thrushes, robins, wrens, sparrows, woodquests, hawks, crows, jackdaws, peewits, magpies, jays and yellowhammers.
A wren stays all the year round and builds its nest in an ivy tree; it lays twenty eggs.
A sparrow stays all the year. It builds a nest in a house and lays six eggs.
A quest stays all the year and builds its nest in a tree. It lays two eggs.
Hawks stay all the year. They build their nests in dale trees and lay five eggs.
Crows stay all the year; they build their nests in trees and lay three eggs.
A jackdaw stays all the year. It builds its nest in a chimney and lays four eggs.
A peewit goes away in the winter. It builds its nest in the hay and lays four eggs.
A magpie stays all the year and builds its nest in a tree where it lays five eggs.
A jay stays all the year and it builds its nest beside a stream. It lays two eggs.
A yellowhammer stays all the year. It builds its nest in a ditch and lays four eggs.
