    as, if they did not, it is said the milk would never be churned and they would be thought to have "taken" the butter.
    A story was told me about people having no butter on their milk, though churning went on for days. Then an old woman was going around selling things in a basket, and she told them to put a handful of salt in the four corners of the field, where the cows were grazing. They did so, and the milk got all right again.
