Long ago this fair used to be held in a village called Banog. Now there is no village there, and the fair was moved to Gorey town but it is still called "the Fair of Benogue."If two men are making a bargain and they cannot come to an agreement about it a third man is often called in to help. He generally asks what is between them and when told the amount says "Split the difference."
He catches a hand of each of the two men when making the bargain.
