  1. There lived a widow's son and he was an only child who worked with a farmer whose name was Patrick Atkins of Whitefort. This boy was a great Atlete and his mother did not want him to hurl in case he would get hurt. There was to be a big hurling match the next Sunday and the boy wanted to hurl in the match.
His mother told the farmer to try and do something to occupy her son on Sunday. So he sent the boy to Dublin with a letter at 12 o'clock on Saturday. The boy ran his best to Dublin and he was home by two o'clock on Sunday. He was the first man on the grounds for the match.
