  1. At Killinane there is a place called Ameens Cross. The word "Ameens" comes from the word "Amen." A priest used to say mass in this place for the poor people in the Penal Days.
He had a little shed in the side of the ditch in which he used to say mass. It was so small that he could only stand in it himself and the people used to stand outside.
One day a rich man came along and saw them kneeling in the rain and asked them why they were there. They told him that they were hearing mass.
He took compassion on them and gave them money to build a chapel so that they would not be in the rain any more.
