  1. There is a rock by the name of the The Maiden Tower up in the rocks. A tower was built on the rock as a look-out in which a maiden used to keep a watch for enemies. She had to go into town for food one day and it was dark as she was coming home. She was riding a white horse and when it was near the tower it got frightened and ran over the rock. The remains of both horse and rider were found at the bottom of the rock the next day. That is how the rock got its name.
