    are put three across in the ridge and about a foot apart. Then they are covered with clay.
    If the potatoes are going to be set in drills the ground is ploughed and harrowed till the clay is very fine. The drills are made with a plough and after a few days they are opened again and the manure put on them in small heaps. Then the manure is spread and the potatoes dropped one along in drills and then they are covered.
