    them. They thought it was a thunder bolt from heaven. Jack got down from the tree, and found a bag of gold and silver, that the robbers had left under the tree.
    He went home with the money to his poor old mother. The next day he went down for a quart measure to the gentle-man to measure his money. The gentle-man put a bit of pitch in the bottom of the measure. He sent back the measure and left a few half sovereigns stuck to the pitch. The gentleman went down to Jack and asked what he got for
