    hampered by Protestants that about 100 years ago the well began to be disused. It is now a sort of shallow drinking pit for cattle.
    It was Patrick Clerkin, Drum, Co. Monaghan who gave me the above account of the Holy Well. He it was who brought me to it and showed me the exact spot where it is situated. Mr Clerkin is the only Catholic living for some distance in an entirely Protestant community. He is a small farmer and is now about 75 years of age. He is an interesting little man.
