  1. I suppose you would be surprised to know that the game of shooting marbles on the street was not allowed some years ago in Longford. Well it was so, that about twenty young boys rich and poor were summoned and got a term of imprisonment for doing so. The punishment they got was to remove a heap of sand from one end of the Prison yard to the other end in bucketfuls. When they had that done they had to remove it back again to where they got it first. When they had that finished their time was up and they were released.
