    grass. They were not able to buy meal for it was six shillings a stone. When the potatoe crops failed they were not able to buy anything. The potatoes rotted into the dirt in the ridges but not much of them grew. One time the Famine stricken people were seen eating scalded Indian Meal which some of the rich neighbours left for them.
