  1. Long ago people used to begin to wear shoes at ten or twelve years. When they began to go to Mass James Jackson never put a shoe on his foot winter or summer and he never got a cold. In summer children go bare foot in March and put on their shoes in November.
There are not many shoemakers in the district at present. The shoemaker trade is a very unhealthy trade.
They make clogs out of old shoes and buy wooden soles.
