  1. Long ago the people never wore shoes until they were sixteen or seventeen years of age. There are some people who never wore a shoe. The most of the children go barefooted in the Summer. There are a few shoemakers in this District. There are not half as many as were because the people buy the shoes in the shops. Nearly all the men wear clogs during the winter. Some people say that no one should throw out at night water that they wash their feet in because
