one could spend a nice pleasant evening such as on Lough Ree or the many islands situated on it.
I like living in Athlone because it is a very nice town. Every Saturday a market takes place in Athlone and by standing at my door, I can see the people passing with butter and eggs. Many Government buildings are being built in Athlone. A New Guards' Barracks is being built just opposite our house.
The land around Athlone is mostly bog and grazing land. If that same grazing land was ploughed and tilled it would pay the owner better. The bog around Athlone is cut every year and is not allowed to go to waste.
