    Why is a vain young lady like a drunkard?
    Because they are both very fond of the glass.
    How long did Cain hate his brother?
    As long as he was Able. (Abel)
    What trade does the dun always follow?
    That of a tanner.
    Why is a waiter like a race horse?
    Because he runs for Plates, Cups and Stakes (Steaks).
    Why doesn't it matter of a beggar wears a short coat?
    Because it will be long enough before he gets another.
    Why is coal a tricky thing to buy?
    Because when bought it generally goes to the cellar.
