  1. The following story is told by Thomas Slevin aged ninety two living at Hodgestown and still strong and active.
    He remembers seeing the chimneys cleaned in this way. The chimneys were very wide and the houses low and when the chimney required to be cleaned someone took a goose and let her down the chimney from the outside. The goose trying to get a hold and flapping her wings cleaned the chimney in a short time.
    A great many people get their chimneys cleaned in this way.
