  2. Up to fifty years ago there was a tannery in Kells, in Newmarket Street, in the yard which is owned and occupied by Mr. McEntee, this tannery gave employment to thirty people.
    In Market Street also there was a chandlery where millions of candles were manufactured, this also gave employment to twenty or thirty people Olden times were worse than the times we have now.
