- The Church of Kells, called after the great Saint Patrick was built about the year 1795 and the rails were put there about the year 1893. Before the present church was built the old church was where Wallaces Coal Office is now or there about. During the Penal Days this was destroyed and no church was built until 1795. The people had to walk to country chapels until the church was built.
