schools used to be held in big houses. In parts of the country there were little hedge schools.
There was no Irish taught in the schools long ago. There were very few blackboards in that time.
When the weather was warm and dry the pupils were taught outside in the open. Long ago there were very few inspectors going round. It was very seldom an inspector went to schools. It might be once in a year or once in two years.
