- There are many wild birds seen in our district at different periods of the year, such as:- The Robin, Thrush, Wren, Willy-Wag-Tail, Crow, Black-bird, Pigeon, Jackdaw, Magpie, Lark, Swallow, Swift, Seagull, Sparrow, Bullfinch, Starling, Wood-pecker, Hawk, Yellow-hammer, Tom-tit, Corn-Crake, and Cuckoo. The majority of these birds stay with us all the year round, but a few of them, such as the Swallow, Swift or Cuckoo, migrate to Africa in the Winter.
The Robin builds its nest in a hole in the wall or ditch and it lays about four eggs. Its nest is small and woolly in the inside and very cosy looking.
