“In Baytown there lived a woman in a tin house...”
In Baytown there lived a woman in a tin house and everyday she went down to a well for water she always made sure to lock the door after her. The people thought she was a witch because they could get no butter to come on the churn. When they would go to take the butter out of the churn they would find a dead hand instead and they thought she was the cause of that. One day a girl watched her and when she was gone to the well the girl got in the window and she saw a dead hand making butter, then they knew what was the cause of it.- You are not logged in, but you are welcome to contribute a transcription anonymously.
