- The Moon. When a halo appears on the moon it is the sign of a storm. The nearer the halo is round the moon the farther away is the storm. The farther the halo the nearer the storm. There is always a gap in the halo and people can tell by this gap, the side from which the storm will come.
The Sun. If the sun goes down in a red ball in the evening it is the sign of east wind. A copper coloured sunset is the sign of rain.
