Once upon a time there was a mission in a certain parish and there was a tinkers tent nearby.

Once upon a time there was a mission in a certain parish and there was a tinker tent nearby. One of the missioners was walking in the direction of the tent, and he came upon one of the tinkers making a can. The priest asked him was he attending the mission and he said "no." The priest asked him could he say his prayers. The tinker picked up the can he was making and asked the priest could he make that. Of course the priest answered "no." "Well" said the tinker "every man to his own trade."
