  1. The children in this locality go in their bare feet in the Summer time. They always wear boots in the Winter time. The people never leave water in the house at night in which feet have been washed for fear they might have bad luck. About eighty years ago the shoemakers were so scarce that when they would visit a house the occupiers of the house would confiscate some of their belongings in order to prevent them leaving before their work was completed as there was such keen demand for their services
