    killed, and the bacon cured, and then hung from the rafters in the kitchen.
    On Easter Sunday people used to eat a lot of eggs, it was quite the usual thing for one person to eat as many as seven eggs. Currant cake was eaten at Xmas, and for the twelve days after Xmas. This was not a rich plum cake, it was made with flour, sugar, and buttermilk, and some currants. A Plum Pudding was the special excitement for Christmas. It was always boiled in a large pot over an open fire, and very often it was boiled in a boiler, and many a time the pudding would be stolen out of the boiler and a turnip or a big stone wrapped in a cloth would be left in its place.
    Pan cakes were made and eaten on Shrove Tuesday. People in the country called them "Slim Cakes" this custom of eating pancakes is still kept up in the district.
