  1. Local Marriage Customs
Local Marriages still take place on Shrove Tuesday or before.
The month of May is an unlucky month to be married and Saturday is an unlucky day.
Matches are made in out district, sometimes money is given as a fortune to a bride.
Long ago stock and goods were given, old people remember marriages having taken place in the houses this occurred long ago.
To throw an old boot after the bride is an old custom.
If two people from one family get married during the one year,it is still considered to be unlucky in our district.
