    Tommy Hopkins was a fair man who assisted Pat King at the great big fairs of Strokestown.

    He lighted his pipe beside the stone wall and when the match blew out and he raised his head and there right in front of him stood a man. He walked along about five yards to the left of Tommys path. The walked along neither of them spoke and the man just went out on the road before Tommy.
    On along the road he walked beside Tommy and when they came to a gate at the but of a little hill beside Pat Kings house The man mysteriously dissappeared though no coward Tommy was afraid. He went to Pat Kings house and there was no one up. Tommy called Pat King and asked for the time. Pat said exactly twenty to two.
