  1. The MacCurtins were a very learned people. The two were born in Cill Mhuire. They were taught here and there in hedge schools in the beginning of the eighteenth century.
    In 1730 Aindrias wrote an Irish Dictionary. He also wrote a strange poem in Irish asking the King of the Fairies to take him as a giolla or servant.
    "Glac isteach mé, A Righ geal gan daoise,
    Ag giollaidheacht each do mharcraidhe síoda
    'S ná fág fá cheas mé ag teacht an Saoie
    As scéird Muighe Ghlais am spreais is am sprionnlach".
    He also made a copy of "Cothraim Turlóga" written by "Mac Craith in 1459.
    In 1728 Aodh Mac Chruitín also wrote a book in Louvain - "The Elements of the Irish Language grammatically explained in English.
