    Farewell to the cot on the mountain
    And the cradle that first lulled me to sleep
    Tears are falling from natures own fountain
    As I breast on the waves of the deep.
    Land of the lovelist and fairest
    Unmatched where so e'er we may roam
    But ere long to return and make thee
    The pride of each Irishmans home.

    We are going to the land where there is refuge,
    From oppression we are leaving behind.
    Where our cots nere again will they level
    Or turn us out in the cold winters wind.
    But dear Erin I nere shall forget thee
    Though fate has compelled me to roam.
    But ere long to return and make thee
    The pride of each Irishmans home.

    The sods that our fathers lie under
    The homes that their children must shun
    Where chieftains oft fought and conquered
    The swine herd now basks in the sun
    But we'll soon see the day we'll return
