    beautiful mansion in the Gáirdín. It was owned by a man named Michael Cummings. He was a terribly cruel man and did a great deal of wicked deeds. When poor beggar people went for alms to him, he used give them very salty meat to eat. Then he used to lock them in a room in his house until they would be almost dead with thirst. He used enjoy this wicked deed, very much. His mother often told him he would not die happily.
    At last he burned his house, it was the custom in those days that everyone that burned his house was hanged. His servant told on him and every night he was seen around the "Gáirdín" with horses hooves on his feet.
    Long, long ago when the O'Daly family were very famous in Burrin, one of the O'Daly boys invited a large party to his house. When they came he had nothing for them. His father was a very holy man, and when he saw this he prayed to God to send him some food to help them out with the party.
