  1. There are a series of caves in the parish of Carron, stretching as far as Inchiquin.
    Groups of boys from time to time have gone there exploring, bringing with them papers and straw to scatter on the paths lest they lose their way. One group is said to have met a little old man who told them not to cross the river there or they would never return. The dog which accompanied them swam the river and was never seen again.
    Many years ago a young mare strayed in - and was later seen with a foal. This is the origin of the horses which used to come out at sunrise every morning to graze for about an hour and go back again. These were marvelous horses and anyone who could catch one could train him to do almost anything. He would bring a person safely through any danger.
    Maura Rua - a titled lady - also very cruel lived in Lemeneagh Castle. She had one trained and any person who offended her - she caused him to ride this horse which then galloped
