  2. 6. Some people used to build cellars under their little houses.
    The reason of this was,if a storm arose they would go down into the cellars.The churches at that time were made of a big stone ,with a wall built around it with sticks ,so the people could sit on a stone while mas was going on.Some people used to get straw and build a house for the priests.People used do this for their penance. They used also build bridges with sticks and mud.The remains of one of those bridges is to be seen still in Ballygriffey.
