The following is another verse taken down from Domhnaillín Beag O Riain and said by him to have been composed by Darby Ryan.

"Reflect and pray, I had my day
In health as thou hast thine
It is thy fate, for soon or late
Your doom shall be like mine
Your vital race shall shortly cease
Though old or in your prime
    Death will not fail
    With you to deal
    Therefore prepare in time"

Is fearr an sean-dhíól na sean-fhalaí...

Is fearr sean-dhíol na sean-fhalaí (old spite) See Dineen

That is even(?) if long overdue
it dissipates spite when, at length, paid.

The above is an old proverb I heard from "Het" Grogan, Montanavoe, Bansha who died in 1925 aged 96 yrs.
