Mr. James Wall of Bansha told me about the following people whom he knew about 50 yrs ago. There was a man named Tobin of Ballylooby, Cahir and another man named J. Mitchel of Emly, and these were the greatest weight-throwers in Co. Tipperary at that time. There was a man named John Culnane living in Bansha who lifted 30 stone of grain. Thomas Kennedy, Rathdermot, Bansha, lifted 25 stone of potatoes off the ground into a car. Michael Power, Kilshane, tied 1/2 cwt on his little finger and wrote his name with a slate on the wall opposite him. Ned Paorac, Bansha threw a stone 200 yds.
