  2. Potatoes are grown on our farm. About an acre of ground is taken up under them each year, My father plough's and harrows the land. In this locality the potatoes are sown in drills, but some time ago, they were sown in ridges. The drills are made with the plough
    About fifty years ago, wooden ploughs were used. Then the seed is prepared. First it is cut, and every seed is called a sgiollán. In every sgiollán there must be an eye, if not it would not grow.
