  1. It was the custom in olden days to divide the farm between the members of the family. In Glenaskaugh a family wanted to give half a farm to a daughter. In order to divide the farm equally it came about that a fort had to be halved. These people believed in the good people. So not to interfere with the good people without their consent, they decided to make a heap of stones in the middle of the fort. They they called on the fairy's and said "if ye dont want us to interfere with your fort knock these stones" The fairys did not knock the stones. So the fort halved, and can be seen to the present day.
