  1. The Abbey is situated in the old church yard. It is said that the Purcells who lived in the castle are buried there. There are a lot of tombs in it and the most of them belong to the Purcells. There is a date on one of the tombs dated 1644 with a lot of Latin letters inscribed on it. It is said that Cromwell drove the monks out of the Abbey and burned it. Baron Francis Purcells grave is the still to be seen.
