On the day following that one July 24th John his brother started out for Pallashill to assertain the cause of his delay. When he reached the grove he was shocked to find his brothers dead body under an uprooted tree. With the aid of some help the body was taken home and he was buried in upperchurch later on.
- Near John Ryan's house of Ballyboy there grew a larger grove of young larch trees. On the night of the big wind the greater portion of this grove was blown away and the remaining trees were afterwards sold.
