  1. The bread in olden times was far different from the bread nowadays. Long ago they used to eat oaten bread, whole meal bread, bock bread, and potato cakes. The oatmeal bread was made in a griddle, and it used to be very hard, and they used to drink cider with it. They used to have three meals daily, breakfast, dinner and supper. The breakfast consisted of oaten meal bread, the dinner consisted of potatoes, buttermilk and salt, and they used to have Indian meal for supper.
