    throat is to heat bran in the lid of a pot and put it in an old stocking and tie it around your neck.
    2. Salt treated in the same manner and tie it round your neck is another good cure.
    3. Some old people say to get potatoes and roast them and put them on a cloth and put them up to it skin and all.
    4. This is also another cure for a sore throat to get a jug of boiling water and let the steam go back your throat.
    5. Gargle it with salt and water is also an old cure.
    6. The oldest cure of all was to laugh a lot. The laughing exercises the muscles of the neck and helps to break the lumps.
    7. An old cure was to get a head crust of bread and to eat it and it will break the lumps.
