  1. There is a fort about two miles from Castleconnell which is supposed to be haunted. This fort is called Wilmolt's Fort.
    A story is told about a man "on the run" during the Black and Tan war, who was passing through the fort. As Night fell and he, being afraid of the soldiers behind him took no notice of where he was going. He walked about four miles and then fell down exhausted and fell asleep. In the morning when he woke he was lying in the middle of the fort, and his wounds had been cleaned and tended and his tiredness gone.
