- There is a big rock in the middle of this fort, one night some years ago. Mr Heffernan heard strange noise in the direction of the fort. The night was dark but he heard sounds of voices and the barking of dogs. Next morning after breakfast he went to the fort and to his amazement he saw the rock which was half embedded in the ground thrown from its place to the other side of the fort. Mr Heffernan believed, as most Irish farmers do, that forts should never interfere with and as the men in the locality would not be able to move the rock to its own place he got it blasted and the pieces he put into the great hole from which it was rooted.
