  1. Little meat was eaten in Mr Moylans time, but no wedding ceremony was considered properly carried on without plenty of meat used in those days. Potatoes were the food for all meals, sometimes milk was taken with them, but very often only salt, and occasionally a little butter was taken.

  2. Long ago when there were no clocks, the people used to know the time to go to the fair by the "tredeen". The tredeen was a group of stars that were to be seen in the sky, and according to their place the old people used to know the time.
