Festival Customs.In my district many feasts are observed in special manner each year.On St. Stephen's day, a batch of boys gather together and go from house to house gathering money for the wren, and at each house they sing the wren song, and the following is some of it.The wren, the wren, the king of all birds.
St. Stephen's day he was caught on the furze.
Although he is little, his family is great.
Cheer up boys and girls, and give us a treat.
Sing holly, sing ivy, sing ivy, sing holly.
To keep a bad Christmas is all but a folly.
For Christmas comes, but once a year.
And when it comes, it brings great cheer.
