Told by my father, Con Enright, Skehanagh, Ardagh,
    Co. Limerick.
    Local Heroes.
Tom McGrath from Ardagh and Dennis Mangan, from Reen's Pike were great runners, and also John Corbett senior of Skehanagh, who challenged O'Callaghan, the Munster champion twice and won the races.
Mick Lane was a great walker. He walked form Reen's Pike to Limerick in one day.
My grand uncle, Tom Enright of Skehanagh and grandfather O'Neill of Duxtown were great footballers and jumpers. The latter jumped Bunogue bridge.
My grandfather Michael Enright of Skehanagh was a great swimmer. He with my father on his back, swam across the Shannon to Foynes Island. Mr. Curling and himself swam from Ballybunion to a big ship, which was about ten miles out on the water. Mr. Curling dived under the ship and came up the other side, and my grandfather swam around it, and both of them returned together.
