  1. Local Ruins
    There is only one old ruin in this parish and that is the old monastery which was burned either in sixteen hundred and forty seven or in sixteen hundred and fifty two. This ruin is in the townland of Temple Athea about a mile from this school. A present there is a graveyard round the old ruin.
    This monastery was owned by the Franciscan monks in Abbeyfeale and it supposed that they used come every day to say mass in the monastery. In the ruin there is a tomb owned by the Woulfe family.
