There is a very old holy well in Mrs Harty's land of Kilmacahill. There was a big tree standing at the side of the well and a well is built around it. The tree has fallen but the well is standing still. People used to make rounds there in former times and there was a basin on the wall for the people to drink the water out of the well with it. The people used to leave pennies and little statues and buttons there. The water in this well used to cure a disease called "Ague"
